While Manchester United supporters may retain hope that Angel Di Maria will come good at Old Trafford, reports are growing that the player is keen to cut short his stay in England. Things really haven't gone well on or off the field for the most expensive player in British football.
The Daily Mirror report that Paris St Germain, the only obvious suitors for Di Maria, are prepared to offer Manchester United the same fee they paid Real Madrid last summer. That's £59.7m.
United manager Louis van Gaal has already stated that he won't stand in Di Maria's way if he wants to leave the club, and £60m would allow him to significantly reinvest in a squad that still needs work.
It's a difficult choice to give up on such a potential star after just one season, but that offer of their money back must seem mighty tempting.
